No health or behaviour claims

A snuffle mat is feeding equipment, not a toy. You scatter your dog's normal portion of dry food across the fleece and work it down between the strips. Then it goes on the floor. The bowl is empty in under a minute. The mat is not, because the food has to be found first.

Why it is built this way

Cheap mats shed strips in the first week and come out of the wash misshapen. We hold every supplier to one specification: polar fleece that survives a machine cycle, strips long enough to actually bury kibble in rather than rest it on top, and a non-slip underside so the mat stays where you put it instead of sliding away as the dog works.

Care

Shake the loose crumbs out after each meal. Machine wash on a gentle cycle, without fabric softener, when food residue builds up. Air dry flat. Do not tumble dry — heat damages the fleece and the strips lose their shape.

Good to know

This is for supervised use. It is not a chew toy. If your dog tears at the fabric instead of searching it, stop using it and choose something else. Check the strips for damage before every meal.

How to use it

The same four steps, whichever piece of equipment you are holding.

  1. Measure the meal

Use your dog's normal portion of dry food. The mat replaces the bowl, it does not add to it.

  2. Work the food in

Scatter the kibble over the fleece and press it down between the strips. Bury it deeper as your dog gets quicker.

  3. Put it down and stay nearby

Let your dog search at their own pace. Stay in the room while they work.

  4. Shake it out

Empty the crumbs after each meal, and machine wash it on a gentle cycle when residue builds up.

Questions

How often can I use it?

As often as you feed. A common pattern is one meal a day through the mat and the other in the bowl.

Does it work with wet food?

No. Wet food soaks into the fleece and is difficult to wash out. Use dry food or dry treats.

My dog picks the mat up and shakes it. What now?

Some dogs try to empty it by lifting it. Hold one edge down at first and use less food, so searching pays off faster than shaking.

Can it go in the tumble dryer?

No. Tumble drying damages the fleece. Air dry it flat.

Can I leave my dog alone with it?

We ask you not to. This is feeding equipment for supervised use, not something to leave out.
